Federations in Devon

Currently there are 24 Federations involving Devon Maintained schools.  Federation brings the opportunity to secure strong, strategic leadership and work differently to deliver 21st century schooling. Schools within a federation come together to share a single governing body but retain their separate legal status, budget, etc.

The Devon Federation Open week as held in November when 14 Federations opened their doors to visitors interested to learn how federations work and  about the advantages for the education of children in these schools. The event was well received: 100% rated the event as good or very good and 100% would recommend it  to other governors considering federation in the future.

One visitor wrote: 'An effective way to find out about the process of federating and the pros and cons from people with experience.'

We are planning to hold a similar event next year so put the date in your diary : 12 - 16 November 2012. If you would like to receive detailed information as it becomes available  email us with a request to be placed on the mailing list.

Holsworthy is a thriving rural market town close to Dartmoor and the surfing beaches of North Cornwall. The school transferred to new buildings ten years ago and the number of pupils on roll is increasing. The school has a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, is good at sport and the children are ECO friendly.
The governors are seeking to appoint a new leader who can engage with the school community and move it forward to become 'outstanding'.
